Sync the repository citation metadata to the latest release, remove the stale hardcoded README BibTeX block, and update the release workflow so pushed version tags create the GitHub release that Zenodo expects. This also adds targeted tests and release-doc updates so the citation and Zenodo metadata stay aligned going forward.
